REGULAR MEETING JULY 15, 2015 55 <br />Declaration for Retirement for Firefighter Scott Ambrose effective June 26, 2015. Chief Cox noted <br />that Mr. Ambrose was appointed to the Fire Department on July 16, 1997, and has served with <br />loyalty and diligence. Chief Cox j oined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, distinguished <br />years of service to the South Bend Fire Department and the citizens of South Bend. Members also <br />wished him a long and happy retirement. Upon a motion made by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr. <br />Miller and carried, the retirement was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE DECLARATION FOR RETIREMENT — JAMES BURKUS <br />President Collins advised that Fire Chief Steve Cox has submitted to the Board the Application and <br />Declaration for Retirement for Firefighter lames Burkus effective July 1, 2015. Chief Cox noted that <br />Mr. Burkus was appointed to the Fire Department on March 1, 1978, and has served with loyalty and <br />diligence. Chief Cox joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, distinguished years of <br />service to the South Bend Fire Department and the citizens of South Bend. Members also wished <br />him a long and happy retirement. Upon a motion made by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr. Miller and <br />carried, the retirement was accepted and approved. <br />APPROVE REVISED DUTY MANUAL <br />Attached to a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Stephen Cox submitted a revised South Bend Fire <br />Department Duty Manual. In his letter, Chief Cox requested the Board approve the revision that was <br />submitted for review at the June 17, 2015 Board of Public Safety meeting. Upon a motion by Mr. <br />Taylor, seconded by Mr. Jones and carried, the Board approved the revised Duty Manual. <br />FILING OF QUARTERLY TRAVEL AND TRAINING EXPENDITURES REPORT - APRIL, <br />MAY, AND JUNE 2015 <br />Fire Chief Steve Cox submitted to the Board a written Quarterly Travel and Training Expenditures <br />Report for the period of April, May, and June 2015. The report summarizes travel and training <br />expenditures for the South Bend Fire Department personnel during this quarterly period. There being <br />no questions concerning this report, the Quarterly Report for Travel and Training Expenditures was <br />accepted and filed. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT — JUNE 2015 <br />Fire Chief Stephen Cox submitted to the Board the monthly report for June 2015 compiled by the <br />Prevention/Inspection Bureau of the Fire Department, Mr. Collins stated if there were no objections, <br />the Board would accept the report for filing as presented. <br />A summary is as follows: <br />JUNE <br />JUNE <br />2014 <br />2015 <br />STRUCTURE FIRES <br />Property Damage -- Buildings & Contents <br />(Estimates) <br />$212,200.00 L $96,822.00 <br />INSPECTION DIVISION <br />297 Inspections <br />324 Total Inspections <br />(61 Re-Inspections) <br />(76 Re-Inspections) <br />INVESTIGATION DIVISION <br />17 <br />9 <br />Investigations <br />Investigations <br />2 Incendiary <br />3 Incendiary <br />7 Accidental <br />3 Accidental <br />0 Natural <br />0 Natural <br />8 Undetermined <br />3 Undetermined <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion by Mr. Jones, seconded by <br />Mr. Taylor and carried, the meeting adjourned at 10:15 a.m. <br />
