PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION JULY 15, 2015 50 The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:19 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Auditorium, South Bend Police Department, 701 W. Sample St., South Bend, Indiana, with Board President John Collins and Board Members Eddie Miller, Luther Taylor, and Daniel Jones present. Also present was Police Chief Ronald Teachman, Fire Chief Stephen Cox, and Attorneys Jessica Brock and Stephanie Steele. Board members discussed the following agenda items: - Swearing In of Officers Police Chief Ronald Teachman stated he is requesting the Board swear in three (3) new officers. He added he will also be promoting two (2) officers that will require their badge pinning. Chief Teachman suggested it would make better sense to do the promotions during the swearing -in since they are all being pinned. President John Collins agreed and suggested all promotions and swearing - in's that require pinning, be done at once so the families can leave. The Board agreed to do the pinning of the badges, and then take a recess to allow the families to leave. - Discussion — Revised Job Description Chief Teachman stated he will be asking the Board to proceed with a draft job description for the Investigative Chief position, that is currently still under works. He noted it still needs Legal and Human Resources approval. He added he is seeking the Board's input on the job description and explained that the job duties have changed substantially since it was put into the duty manual originally. Sample St., South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C.5- 14- 1.5 -6.I (b)(6)A). Board President John Collins and Board Members Eddie Miller, Luther Taylor, and Daniel Jones were present. Also present were Attorney Stephanie Steele, and Judge Roland Chamblee. Board members did not discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice.
