REGULAR MEETING APRIL 15.2015 35 <br />Charges No. 2015 -01., Michael Brown, for May 26, 2015. <br />APPROVE PERMANENT PROMOTION TO THE RANK OF CAPTAIN —BRIAN KOLOSZAR <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Stephen Cox stated that on April 16, 2014, Firefighter Brian <br />Koloszar was placed in the position of Captain in Special Assignment. The assignment required <br />several evaluations in order to determine his abilities in a leadership position. Assistant Chief James <br />Lopez stated that Firefighter Koloszar has completed all requirements of the position he has occupied <br />in outstanding fashion and he is therefore recommending that he be permanently promoted to the <br />rank of Captain, no longer in Special Assignment, effective April 15, 2015. Therefore, upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Taylor and carried, the recommendation for promotion <br />was accepted and approved. <br />APPROVE PERMANENT PROMOTION TO THE RANK OF CAPTAIN JAY RIBA <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Stephen Cox stated that on April 16, 2014, Firefighter Jay Riba <br />was placed in the position of Captain in Special Assignment. The assignment required several <br />evaluations in order to determine his abilities in a leadership position. Assistant Fire Chief James <br />Lopez stated that Firefighter Riba has completed all requirements of the position he has occupied in <br />outstanding fashion and he is therefore recommending that he be permanently promoted to the rank <br />of Captain, no longer in Special Assignment, effective April 15, 2015. Therefore, upon a motion <br />made by Mr. Taylor, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried, the recommendation for promotion was <br />accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE PROMOTION LIST FOR CAPTAINCY <br />- Brent Van Bruaene <br />- Nathan Giszewski <br />- Dan Luther <br />- Mat Willoughby <br />- Steve Pritz <br />- Steve Downey <br />- Mike Szucs <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Stephen Cox recommended the above listed individuals be <br />approved for the list of candidates eligible for promotion to the rank of Captain. Chief Cox noted the <br />listed individuals have completed and received the top scores during the recently completed South <br />Bend Fire Department Captain's Promotion Process. He stated if, during the next year, all seven (7) <br />of these individuals are promoted, additional testing will be completed in order to present the Board <br />with a new list of Firefighters for promotion to Captain. Upon a motion made by Mr. Taylor, <br />seconded by Mr. Miller and carried, the above list of candidates eligible for promotion to Captain <br />was accepted and approved. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT MARCH 2015 <br />Fire Chief Stephen Cox submitted to the Board the monthly report for March 2015 compiled by the <br />Prevention/Inspection Bureau of the Fire Department.
