-17- <br />house drain, the connection shall be made with a "Y" branch, <br />and trap shall be provided if said conductor opens or <br />terminates within 12 feet of a window measuring in horizontal <br />direction. <br />When a rainwater leader connects to the house drain said <br />drain shall he not less than 6 inches in diameter. <br />Section LV. When outside conductors. or downspouts of <br />sheet metal are on driveways, streets or alleys and are <br />connected with the house drain they shall be so connected <br />by the use of not less than one length of extra heavy cast <br />iron pipe extending vertically at least four (4) feet above <br />the grade line, except where an overflow out out is installed <br />in which case same may extend not less than one foot above <br />grade. <br />Section LVI. All building drains in all cases where <br />new buildings are erected and constructed in the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, shall be of extra heavy cast iron soil <br />pipe, as it is known in commerce, <br />The soil stacks from immediately above the basement <br />floor may be extra heavy cast iron pipes, galvanized wrought <br />iron pipes, or galvanized mild steel pipes. The drain shall <br />extend from the curb to a point immediately above the base- <br />ment floor. <br />Section LVII.
