board or signboard is to be erected is above the level of the street <br />then the bottom of the face of the same must be at least two and one -half <br />feet above the level of the ground at the point where the board is <br />to be erected. Every such billboard or signboard must be constructed <br />and located in accordance with the provisions of this article and <br />shall be subject to the approval of the Commissioner of Buildings. <br />The space beneath such billboards or signboards shall not be closed, <br />except wire screen, Mesh or open lattice may be used to prevent <br />trespass. <br />1 DISTANCE FROM STREET OR LOT LINE. Sec. 836. No signboard <br />�J or billboard larger than 12 square feet (unless erected flat against <br />the wall of a building) shall be located within 5 feet of the street <br />lot line on any street or public highway, except where the lot on <br />which said board is located is adjoined on both sides by business <br />buildings situated nearer to the street lot line, in which event, <br />the signboards or billboards may be even with the front main building <br />line of the building next on either side of such board which is <br />farthest from the street lot line, except in Commercial or Industrial <br />Zones, in which localities signboards and billboards can be built <br />von the building line. No signboard or billboard shall be erected <br />or maintained closer to any building than three feet, except as <br />herein otherwise provided. <br />CHANGE IN EXISTING BILLBOARDS AND SIGNBOARDS. Sec. 838. <br />No surface billboard or signboard constructed or erected prior to <br />the passage of this amendment shall be maintained after January 1, <br />1941 where the height of such signboard or billboard exceeds 22 feet <br />or is closer to the street lot line than herein permitted. No <br />such billboard or signboard shall be maintained after such date, <br />unless there is a clear space of at least two and one half feet above <br />the level of the adjoining street, with the exception that open <br />lattice may be used on this space. <br />-(„R <br />If, however, the level of the <br />
