REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 17.2014 93 <br />Collins and carried, the Special Police Commissions were approved as outlined above. <br />ACCEPT AND FILE DONATION TO SOUTH BEND POLICE DFPARTMEN'f <br />In a letter to the Board, Assistant Chief Scott Ruszkowski, Police Department, advised the Board of <br />generous donation of a Pro -form recumbent bike made to the South Bend Police Department PAT, <br />Boxing Club from Kristin Sheehan. There being no further discussion, the donation was thankfully <br />accepted and filed. — <br />FILING OF QUARTERLY REPORT FOR SPECIALIZED TRAINING —JULY AUGUST AND <br />SEPTEMBER 2014 <br />Captain Morrie Taylor, Training Division, South Bend Police Department, submitted to the Board a <br />written Quarterly Report for Specialized Training for the period of July, August and September <br />2014. The report indicated the specialized training attended, the names of the officers who attended <br />and the costs involved. There being no questions concerning this report, the Quarterly Report for <br />Specialized Training as submitted was accepted and filed. <br />FILING OF MONTHLY STATISTICAL ANALYSIS REPORT — NOVEMBER 2014 <br />President Vasquez stated that unless there were questions or objections by members of the Board, the <br />statistical analysis report for the month of November 2014. as submitted by the Police Department, <br />would be accepted for filing. Chief Cox stated in his <br />letter that Firefighter Lagodney was placed in a special assignment as a Captain on December 18, <br />2013. Chief Cox stated Captain Lagodney has completed all the requirements of the position in <br />outstanding fashion, and recommended a permanent promotion based on his progress. Upon a <br />motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the recommended permanent <br />promotion was approved. <br />TABLE REOIMST FOR UNPAID LEAVE OF ABSENCE GRANT BAKER <br />In a letter to the Board, Fire Chief Stephen Cox, stated that Firefighter Grant Baker requests the <br />Board grant him an unpaid leave of absence for approximately six (6) months in order to allow him <br />to take advantage of an opportunity to work with surgeons in the operating room as a Clinical <br />Specialist for a medical device company placing grafts and stents into abdominal and thoracic <br />aneurysms. Chief Cox noted as an Advanced EMT, Firefighter Baker is required to treat patients in <br />the field that are subject to these medical problems and will be able to bring this working knowledge <br />back to the Department and become an EMS instructor. President Vasquez stated the Board would <br />like to table this request for further information and a discussion with Chief Cox upon his return. <br />APPROVE 2015 -2017 FIRE DEPARTMENT COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT <br />
