Cover Letter to Ordinance Creating SBMC § 2.9.1 <br />November 12, 2014 <br />Page 2 <br />an ongoing basis, so that as a broader audience is reached the professionalism <br />expected of the South Bend's elected legislative members will also be advanced. <br />The proposed ordinance also provides that all of the proposed policies and <br />procedures would be supplemental to the State of Indiana's laws governing Open <br />Meetings and Public Records. As changes are made to those state laws, updates if <br />necessary, would be made to our local ordinance regulations. <br />We have collaborated with the City of South Bend's Human Resources Director <br />and the Information Technology Division so that the proposed policies represent <br />the latest and best possible practices. <br />We request that this ordinance be referred to the Information and Technology <br />Committee and that it be set for public hearing, 2nd and 3rd readings at the Monday, <br />December 8, 2014 Common Council meeting. <br />We seek your support of this ordinance.
