All inter -city trucks as defined in paragraph (b) of the preced- <br />ing section entering the city and proceeding to a point vathin the city <br />which is their destination, but which is not shown upon Schedule A <br />shall follow state or national highways, city truck routes and access <br />routes as shown on Schedule A from the point upon such routes which <br />is nearest to their point of beginning and shall not travel upon any <br />other public streets of the city, except as provided in the first para- <br />graph of this subsection. <br />(c) Inter -city trucks as defined in paragraph (c) of the pre- <br />ceding section shall proceed from the point within the city, which is <br />their starting point, to the city limits by the shortest combination of <br />state and federal highways, city truck routes, and access routes <br />shown upon Schedule A and shall not drive upon any other public streete <br />of the city, at any time; provided, however, that they shall be per- <br />mitted to drive upon such other public streets of the city, upon the <br />direction of a city or state police officer to follow a marked and estab- <br />lished city detour or to obtain necessary emergency mechanical repair. <br />All inter -city trucks as defined in paragraph (c) of the preceding <br />section proceeding to a point outside the limits from a point within <br />the city but which is not shown upon Schedule A shall follow state or <br />national routes, and access routes as shown on Schedule A from the <br />point upon such routes which is nearest to their point of beginning <br />and shall not travel upon any other public streets of the city, except <br />as provided in the first paragraph of this subsection. <br />SECTION III. That Section 82 of Chapter 29 of General Ordinance No. 3709 be <br />and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />(a) The Common Council of the City of South Bend shall deter- <br />mine such additional city truck routes as may be reasonably neces- <br />sary for the proper conduct of business involving the use of such inter- <br />city trucks and for the proper protection of the public streets of the few W <br />city and the proper control of such inter -city truck traffic in and up,� <br />the public streets.
