HUFF DIRECTOR OF PLANNING The Honorable Common Council City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: July 11, 1960 The attached petition of John Van Vynckt, et a1, to rezone Lots Numbered 79, 80, and 81 in the recorded Plat of Belmont Addition to the City of South Bend, Indiana, generally described as the northwest corner of Jefferson Boulevard and 36th Street, from "A" Residential Use to "C -1" Commercial Use and "A" Height and Area District was legally advertised on June 25, 1960 and given public hearing under date of July 71 1960. The following action was taken: After due consideration the Commission found that the proposed zoning would tend to be an encroach- ment of commercial use on residential areas and that it was not in keeping with the general charac- ter of the existing residential development. It was therefore duly moved, seconded and carried that the petition be recommended unfavorably to the Common Council.
