Luecke’s new appointment to the City’s Redevelopment Commission <br />will assure that the body charged with addressing economic development in target areas <br />will have a Kingly succession. <br /> <br />Nancy N. King, vice president and trust officer for Indiana Trust & Investment <br />Management Co., will succeed Karl G. King, the former Common Council member who <br />has served on the Redevelopment Commission since October 2004. The Kings are not <br />related. <br /> <br />Nancy King, who is a South Bend resident with a wide range of community involvement <br />and leadership as well recognition for her work in helping others, has been sworn in and <br />will begin her duties at today’s meeting (Oct. 17). <br /> <br />“Nancy brings the kind of broad-based experience in community organizations coupled <br />with her banking and finance expertise that will make her an invaluable member of the <br />Redevelopment Commission,” Luecke said. “The Redevelopment Commission’s role is <br />st <br />crucial as South Bend prepares itself to be a center for innovation in a 21-century <br />research- and innovation-based economy.” <br /> <br />A board member of several key community institutions, King has served as president of <br />the South Bend Community School Corp. Board of Trustees (member 1990-94), <br />president of the YWCA of St. Joseph County Board of Directors (member 1988-present) <br />as well as a member of the boards for the Morris Performing Arts Center, the Community <br />Foundation of St. Joseph County and The Public Education Foundation Inc. <br /> <br />In her professional life before joining Indiana Trust & Investment Management Co. in <br />2004, King served from 1996 to 2003 as senior vice president and chief administrative <br /> <br />
