'I~hat bond ~~~ill <br />cover such items as a new bvila~ and chiller, <br />skylight stabilization.. tine and security alarm <br />services. bathroom renovation, and repairs to <br />Island Park. Those improvements ~~~ill keep <br />the core of Centiny Center strong. but they <br />~~~ill have little visible impact in the <br />do~~mto~~~n. <br />As a part of the same improvement planning <br />process, plans ~werc de~~cloped t~~r exterior <br />enhancements to the front of Century Center. <br />including the i~illo~~ing: ^uwing Ccnturv <br />Ccntcr~s parking cntrancc to thr south. across <br />from the School Corporation, to improve <br />pedestrian safety and extend the green space: <br />close the circle cntrancc drip-c in favor of <br />pedestrian walk~~~ays and a smaller. handicap <br />accessible drop-off under the Cenhuy Center <br />canopy; create space for up to six sculpture <br />displays. including a tbcal point of the <br />terminus of Washington Strcct: add nc~i~ <br />stairs to the north end of the facility to more <br />directly connect to the river ~a~alk and Island <br />Park and create a small plain north of <br />Century Center o~°erlooking Island Park and <br />the St..Ioseph River. These improvements <br />not only benefit Ccnturv Center. but also the <br />Regional Museum of Art and the dowmto~~~n. <br />The Sculpture Garden will be a significant <br />addition to the museum. which the ~~'holc <br />community can enjoy.
