South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting -September 19, 2008
3. APPROVAL OF CLAIMS (CONT.)
422 FUND WEST WASHINGTON
Park Department
430 FUND SOUTH SIDE DEVELOPMENT
Park Department
Lehman & Lehman
619 BLACKTHORN GOLF COURSE
Meadowbrook Golf Group, Inc.
321.50 Seasonal Property Maint.
508.00 Seasonal Property Maint.
200.00 Ireland/31 Area Land use
8,000.00 Management Fee
$ 116,056.97
Mr. Varner asked when the Meadowbrook Golf Group
management contract for Blackthorn Golf Course
expires. Mr. Inks responded that it expires
December 31.
Mr. Varner asked if the city has solicited proposals for
th scope of services for that management agreement.
Mr. Inks responded that the City Controller has had
several discussions with Meadowbrook and will be
recommending that we continue Meadowbrook's
contract for one more year, and then put out an RFP in
2009 for 2010.
Referring to the Claims list, Mr. Varner asked who the
Owners' Association at Blackthorn is and what the
$16,226.47 assessment is. Mr. Inks responded that it is
an association of all the land owners in Blackthorn
Corporate Park. The owners are assessed an annual
assessment to cover common maintenance. They meet,
establish an annual budget, and based on the acreage
each owns, assess aper-acre fee to cover the budget.
Since the city owns quite a bit of the acreage, its fees are
significant.
Mr. Downes noted that he is the Commission's
representative to the Owners' Association, attending its
two meetings a year. Its minutes and budget are
available to the Commission.
3
