REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 15, 2014 4 <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — DEREK DIETER <br />Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for <br />Retirement for Patrolman Derek Dieter effective February 8, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that he <br />has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty -six (3 6) years, and one <br />(1) month. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, dedication and <br />years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and the citizens of South Bend. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the application for <br />retirement was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — DAVID HECKLINSKI <br />Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for <br />Retirement for Captain David Hecklinski effective February 19, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that <br />he has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty -eight (3 8) years, two <br />(2) months, and four (4) days. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking him for his <br />commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and <br />the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, <br />the application for retirement was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — SHERRI TAYLOR <br />Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for <br />Retirement for Lieutenant Sherri Taylor effective February 14, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that she <br />has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty -two (32) years, nine (9) <br />months, and seventeen (17) days. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking her for her <br />commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and <br />the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, <br />the application for retirement was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — IAN MCQUEEN <br />Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for <br />Retirement for Detective Sergeant Ian McQueen effective February 14, 2014. Chief Teachman noted <br />that he has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last twenty -six (26) years, <br />six (6) months, and eleven (11) days. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking him for his <br />commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and <br />the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, <br />the application for retirement was accepted and approved. <br />ACCEPT AND APPROVE RESIGNATION — JEFF MCKEE <br />In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald Teachman advised he is in receipt of a letter of <br />resignation from Patrolman Jeff McKee in which he tenders his resignation from the South Bend <br />Police Department, effective December 20, 2013. Chief Teachman stated in his letter that Patrolman <br />McKee was sworn on the South Bend Police Department on March 14, 2007. Upon a motion made <br />by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the letter of resignation was accepted and <br />approved. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 02-2014 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA -ESTABLISHING THE 2014 HOLIDAY <br />SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the following Resolution was <br />approved by the Board of Public Safety: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 02-2014 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA ESTABLISHING THE 2014 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE <br />SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is empowered by <br />law to establish rules and regulations for the South Bend Police Department; and <br />
