REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 15, 2014 4 POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — DEREK DIETER Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for Retirement for Patrolman Derek Dieter effective February 8, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that he has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty -six (3 6) years, and one (1) month. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the application for retirement was accepted and approved. ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — DAVID HECKLINSKI Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for Retirement for Captain David Hecklinski effective February 19, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that he has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty -eight (3 8) years, two (2) months, and four (4) days. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the application for retirement was accepted and approved. ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — SHERRI TAYLOR Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for Retirement for Lieutenant Sherri Taylor effective February 14, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that she has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last thirty -two (32) years, nine (9) months, and seventeen (17) days. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking her for her commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the application for retirement was accepted and approved. ACCEPT AND APPROVE APPLICATION FOR RETIREMENT — IAN MCQUEEN Police Chief Ronald Teachman submitted to the Board the Application and Declaration for Retirement for Detective Sergeant Ian McQueen effective February 14, 2014. Chief Teachman noted that he has served the Department with loyalty and distinction during the last twenty -six (26) years, six (6) months, and eleven (11) days. Chief Teachman joined the Board in thanking him for his commitment, dedication and years of distinguished service to the South Bend Police Department and the citizens of South Bend. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the application for retirement was accepted and approved. ACCEPT AND APPROVE RESIGNATION — JEFF MCKEE In a letter to the Board, Police Chief Ronald Teachman advised he is in receipt of a letter of resignation from Patrolman Jeff McKee in which he tenders his resignation from the South Bend Police Department, effective December 20, 2013. Chief Teachman stated in his letter that Patrolman McKee was sworn on the South Bend Police Department on March 14, 2007. Upon a motion made by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the letter of resignation was accepted and approved. ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 02-2014 - A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND INDIANA -ESTABLISHING THE 2014 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT Upon a motion by Mr. Miller, seconded by Mr. Collins and carried, the following Resolution was approved by the Board of Public Safety: RESOLUTION NO. 02-2014 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ESTABLISHING THE 2014 HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR THE SOUTH BEND POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the Board of Public Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is empowered by law to establish rules and regulations for the South Bend Police Department; and
