Responsible Animal and Pet Ownership Care and Control Regulation Ordinance <br />Page 38 <br />Sec. 5 -55 Redemption of Impounded Animals Seized for Permit Denials, Suspensions, or <br />Revocation. <br />(a) When the re- inspection indicates full compliance that the conditions that caused the <br />denial, suspension or revocation have been corrected, the permit shall be restored and <br />impounded animals that are in the care of SBACC at the time of full compliance may be <br />redeemed. <br />(b) Animals seized will be impounded by SBACC for no less than five (5) business days. <br />After five (5) business days, seized animals will be considered unredeemed unless the <br />SBACC and the licensee whose permit was denied, suspended, or revoked reach an <br />agreement regarding the housing and care of the seized animals for the period in which <br />the licensee is working to correct the conditions that caused the denial, suspension or <br />revocation. <br />(c) Any animal remaining unredeemed after the prescribed holding period shall at once <br />become the property of SBACC. <br />(d) Upon redemption of seized animals, the licensee is responsible for fees associated with <br />the housing and care of the seized animals. <br />Sec. 5 -56 through Sec. 5 -59 Reserved for Future Use. <br />Article 5. Commercial Animal Permit Regulations. <br />Sec. 5 -60 Kennel/Cattery Permit Regulations. <br />(a) Any person owning or harboring more than one unaltered dog or one unaltered cat over <br />the age of six (6) months must apply for a kennel /cattery permit. <br />A resident exceeding one intact animal on the property may apply for a residential <br />kennel permit. Applications will be followed by an inspection prior to issuance of <br />the permit. Permits are valid for one year from date of issue and are the residential <br />kennel permit holder's responsibility to renew. Residential kennel permits require <br />eligibility and may be refused or revoked for cause. <br />a. Initial application eligibility requires no more than three unaltered pets, no <br />outdoor housing in the absence of the owner, suitable exercise space for <br />the breed and number owned, no history of violations with SBACC, and <br />all animals current on vaccinations. <br />b. Cause for revocation may include but is not limited to: animals running at <br />large, substantiated neighborhood nuisance complaints, failure to maintain <br />current permits, breeding without a breeders permit and failing to maintain <br />current rabies vaccine status. <br />
