Amend Several Sections Chapter 36 Relating to Taxicabs and other Vehicles

(3) Section 12. Delete in entirety and substitute the following: "Before any application is finally passed upon by the City Controller the applicant shall be required to show that he has a current motor vehicle operator's permit issued by the State of Indiana." (4) Section 13. Delete in entirety and substitute the following: "Traffic and Police Record. The Police De- partment shall conduct an investigation of each applicant for a taxicab driver's license and a report of such in- vestigation and a copy of the traffic and police record of the applicant, if any, shall be attached to the application for the consideration of the City Controller." (5) Section 14. Delete in entirety and substitute the following: "The City Controller shall upon consideration of the application and the reports and certificate required to be attached thereto shall approve or reject the applica- tion. If the application is rejected, the applicant may request a personal appearance before the Board of Public Works and Safety to offer evidence why his application should be reconsidered. The City Controller shall submit in writing to the Board his reasons for rejecting such application." ORDINANCE NO. 4901 -66 (6) Section 15X Delete in entirety and substitute the following: "Upon approval of an application for a taxi- cab driver's license the City Controller shall issue a license to the applicant which shall bear the name, address, color, age,signature and photograph of the applicant. Such a license shall be in effect for the remainder of the calendar year. A license for every calendar year thereafter shall be issued upon the applicant making a showing that he is the holder of a valid Public Passenger Chauffeur's License issued by the State of Indiana and the payment of One Dollar ($1.00), unless the license for the preceding year has been revoked." SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, its approval by the Mayor and legal publication.
