each successive building will be determined by market conditions at the time and the experience
we gain through operation of the prior IP @ND buildings.
Along with additional space of the type in Building A, Buildings B, C and D may house
wet and/or dry laboratories for facilities and/or equipment requiring special security, special
utility services, etc. The initiation and/or completion of the stages of Park development could, of
course, be accelerated considerably if donors and/or tenants are identified who will underwrite
the construction and operating costs associated with the facilities, or if pre - leasing activity for
Building A is particularly strong.
The implementation plan for the Innovation Park at Notre Dame will be phased in to
reflect the need for temporary facilities until Phase I/Building A is completed, as described
below. The Director of the IP @ND will commence active recruitment of prospective park
tenants and clients, assist the University Facilities Management team in completing Building A
design and initiate construction, and work closely with the City of South Bend, State of Indiana,
Federal agencies, Notre Dame Development and others to secure Certified Tech Park status and
funding for the facility and operation of IP @ND. To this end, a top priority will be the
development and implementation of an effective and impactful website to promote IP @ND, by
reaching out to those with the interest and motivation to pursue entrepreneurial activity in
concert with existing or new intellectual property, technology platforms and human resources at
the University of Notre Dame or its partner institutions, consistent with its vision.
to:
Other activities to be undertaken by the staff of the IP @ND include, but are not limited
• Introduction of the IP @ND mission and plan to the entire Notre Dame faculty, with their
ideas for projects solicited and catalogued by student- interns leased to the IP @ND by the
University, and ranked or rated for commercial potential by industry experts.
