• Leverage the existing and future intellectual property, technology platforms and human <br />resources (faculty, students, and alumni) of the University of Notre Dame and its <br />collaborative partner universities, corporations, governmental institutions [e.g. NIH, <br />DOD, etc.] and other organizations. <br />• Leverage the University's extensive worldwide network of alumni, donors, investors, and <br />friends offering access to world -class knowledge, experience and industry contacts in <br />virtually every market sector. <br />• Achieve Certified Technology Park status with the State of Indiana enabling portions of <br />tax revenues generated by tenants to be reinvested into the park and used for <br />improvements, operation and maintenance of facilities. <br />• Work with . local community organizations to prepare a suitable "landing area" for <br />graduated companies emerging from the IP @ND. <br />• Take appropriate steps to achieve self - sustainability of the IP @ND within five years. <br />The creation and successful operation of the Innovation Park will be a collaborative effort <br />led by the University of Notre Dame with these entities: the City of South Bend, Indiana <br />University -South Bend, Indiana University School of Medicine, St. Mary's College, Bethel <br />College, Ivy Tech State College, Holy Cross College, the various campuses and centers of <br />Purdue University, the State of Indiana (especially the Indiana Economic Development <br />Corporation), Michiana corporations, Michiana medical institutions (especially Memorial <br />Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital and South Bend Clinic), and philanthropic organizations and <br />individuals from inside and outside of Michiana. At this time only preliminary discussions have <br />been held, and only with some of the potential collaborating organizations. While those we have <br />contacted have been enthusiastic about the plan, no commitments have been requested or made. <br />The target of 200,000 square feet for the office and research facilities in the park, the <br />need for such a park, and its particular general focus, is derived from the research efforts and <br />Page 14 of 23 <br />
