Innovation Park Focus <br />IP @ND <br />ctivitie <br />Universities Anchor Partners <br />Corporate "Greenhouse" <br />Labs <br />7\ <br />Advanced Product <br />Research Development Development <br />New Knowledge Creation Technology Development Product Commercialization <br />Science Applied Research New Business Creation <br />The Innovation Park at Notre Dame will encourage the initiation and growth of world - <br />class research activity on the campus, and in collaboration with other universities and colleges. <br />The IP @ND will act as a base for technology platform development in addressing basic human <br />needs, such as water, nutrition, clean air, health, shelter, education, communications, <br />transportation, energy and the environment. In doing so, the IP @ND will foster and facilitate the <br />accelerated exploration and development of the commercial applications of these technology <br />platforms through technology transfer, joint ventures, start-ups, and other avenues with large and <br />small innovation -based businesses located in Michiana, across the U.S., and around the world. <br />The mission of the Innovation Park at Notre Dame is to transform research into <br />marketable enterprises. The IP @ND will accomplish this mission by providing convenient <br />access to necessary space, administrative services and Internet connectivity in combination with <br />the active engagement of expert technical support, professional business advice and introduction <br />to private risk capital. Key outcomes will include the translation of intellectual property into <br />viable products and services, as well as enhanced research/technology development opportunities <br />and uniquely valuable educational experiences for faculty and students. At the same time, <br />IP @ND will not actively provide the means to advance basic research off campus, or to seek to <br />Page 3 of 23 <br />
