CITY OF SOUTH BEND
Jerry J. Miller
Mayor
Donald L. Decker Nobember 30, 1972
Street Commissioner
Municipal Services Facility
701 West Sample Street
South Bend, Indiana 46621
TO: South Bend Common Council
Gentlemen:
Approval is requested of the Common Council to transfer
$15,000.00 out of MVH General to MVH -13, Extra and Overtime.
The shortage is a result of unexpected developments in
a couple of programs. One being the leaf pick —up program;
which, due to the unusual weather this year, resulted in the
majority of leaves falling in a matter of a few days. This
created an emergency situation whereby it was necessary to
work an unusual amount of overtime hours. This program alone
generated $12,426.99 of overtime hours worked.
Another situation creating additional expense in this
account is the EEA Program. All salaries in this program are
frozen by the Federal Government, and due to vacancies in the
truck driver classification, it was necessary to reclassify
some of the EEA personnel to fill these vacancies. This addi-
tional expense must be absorbed in the MV H -13 account also.
In view of these situations, plus the unknown required
amount of overtime needed for snow and ice control during
December, I hope the Council sees fit to grant this request.
Current balance in MVH -13 $ 89501.59
Overtime for period 11 -1 -72 10,644.13
thru 11 -15 -72
Deficit — 29142.54
Request to be transferred 157000.00
Less deficit 21142.54
Operating balance thru re— $12,857.46
mainder of year
Respectfully yours,
D. L. Decker
DLD /psm Street Commissioner
