ORDINANCE NO. 5611 -73 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR <br />THE REGULATION OF CITY -OWNED VEHICLES. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council is concerned about <br />the number and use of motor vehicles by the City of South <br />Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council desires to provide <br />for a more efficient means of regulating the number and use <br />of city vehicles, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common <br />Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The Municipal Code of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, is hereby amended by the addition thereto <br />of the following new Section 2 -47A: <br />Sec. 2 -47A Regulation of city -owned vehicles. <br />(a) It shall be the duty of the City Controller <br />(Director of the Department of Administration and Finance) to <br />annually prepare and file with the City Clerk a motor vehicle <br />report setting forth the following information: <br />1. Name of department, sub - department, <br />bureau or office to which vehicle <br />is assigned; <br />2. Name and title of person using <br />vehicle or to whom vehicle is <br />assigned; <br />3. Make and year of vehicle; <br />4. Description of vehicle; <br />5. Mileage of vehicles as of January 1 <br />of year of report; <br />6. License number of vehicle; <br />7. City number of all vehicles; <br />8. Explanation of the use and need for <br />all city vehicles. <br />Said report shall be filed with the City Clerk on <br />or before the first day of April of each year. <br />(b) In preparing the various budgets which are <br />submitted for Council approval, the Controller shall include <br />all vehicles to be purchased in the line item "Motor Vehicles" <br />and shall place them in the budget of the particular department <br />or bureau which will be using the vehicle. <br />
