E. <br />Director, Public Works <br />Members of the Common Council <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Reply To: Bureau of <br />Design & Administration <br />July 18, 1974 <br />A Barrett Law Sewer project was initiated for the Portage Gardens area. <br />On past Barrett Law projects with smaller total dollar value, the <br />Engineering fees were paid from the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund <br />and then this fund was reimbursed from the Cumulative Sewer Sinking and <br />Building Fund. Due to the balances in CCIF and the dollar value of the <br />Portage Gardens engineering fees, it was not possible to follow the <br />above procedure. <br />In this particular case, we are requesting a direct appropriation to cover <br />the Engineering costs. When the assessment roll is calculated, this will <br />then be reflected as a credit to the City's share of the cost of this <br />project. <br />Your favorable action will be appreciated. <br />Very truly yours, <br />Rollin E.
