E. <br />Director, Public Works <br />Members of the Common Council <br />4th Floor, County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Reply To: Bureau of <br />Engineering <br />August 7, 1974 <br />Through the accompanying Ordinance, we are asking you to appropriate <br />$100,000,00 to be used in acquiring right -of -way, for the Orange - Colfax <br />Streets Connector (R &S 60). Because this project is being developed to <br />use approximately $290,000 of Federal Aid Urban Funds for construction, <br />we will not be in a position to proceed with construction until the <br />first of next year. <br />We are, however, in a position to proceed with necessary acquisition of <br />right -of -way using other funds. <br />These funds now being requested will enable the Department of Public <br />Works to begin this process. <br />Very truly yours, <br />Rollin E.
