Rollin E. Farrand, Sr., P.E.
Director, Public Works
L rloN %
CITY of SOUTH BEND a m
PETER J. NEMETH, Mayor LU )a
COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601
'VDIANP
September 8, 1976
Members of the Common Council
441 County /City Building
South Bend, IN 46601
Dear Council Members:
219/284 -9251
The Department of Public Works has completed construction of two Barrett
Law Sewer Projects in accordance with State and Local regulations govern-
ing such construction and financing. An ordinance has been filed appro-
priating $18,850 to the Crest Manor Sewer Project and $27,150 to the
Homeland Sanitary Sewer Project.
Both projects were initiated at the request of affected property owners.
Public hearings were held for each project to give affected property
owners a chance to express their desires regarding these sewer projects.
For the Homeland Sanitary Sewer Project, a reduction was made in the
original project to eliminate a large area wherein the residents did not
desire sewer service.
The Department of Public Works is of the opinion that these projects do
serve a necessary service to the affected residents and also are beneficial
to the public health. Your favorable consideration of these appropriations
is recommended.
Very truly yours,
Rollin E. Farrand, P.E.
Director
REF:amc
