The changes have been
drafted based upon the following factors:
Section I ( .) equalize civilian employee schedule with Fire Fighters
(a) (1) (6 months to one year of service - 3 working days) and
Police Officers (1 vacation day for each month of
completed service less than one full year).
() area wide practice of other employers reveals a standard
practice of granting some paid vacation after 6 months
of continuous employment.
Section I ( •) no change from current Amendment
(a) (2) (3) (4)
Section I ( ) equalize civilian employee schedule with Fire Fighters
(a) (5) (after 21 years of service - 9 working days) and Police
Officers (after 20 years of service - 29 calendar days).
() Twenty -five working days of vacation after 20 years of
service was negotiated into Teamster Contract with the
City of South Bend in 1975; it appears to have been an
administrative oversight that an Amendment was not filed
at that time to reflect negotiated changes. Employees
have followed the contract language in taking vacations.
We would appreciate your serious consideration of this Amendment.
