REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 26, 2013 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />This team beat West 3-0 to advance to the World Championship game which was nationally <br />televised on ESPN. The Championship Game pitted the District 11 South Bend Team, <br />representing all of the United States against a team from Milano, Italy, representing Europe and <br />Africa. The teams were tied going into the bottom of the 4th inning, when the hard-work, <br />dedication and talents of our great team were displayed when the District 11 All-Stars scored 4 <br />runs and then held the Italian Team scoreless for the rest of the game and went on to win by a <br />score of 5-1---capturing the World Title!!! <br /> <br />, <br />Now, Therefore, be it resolved, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indianaas <br />follows: <br /> <br />Section I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is especially proud to <br />2013 Softball World Champions The District 11 South <br />publicly honor and recognize the – <br />Bend Senior League Girl’s Softball Team <br />!!! <br /> <br />congratulates <br />Section II. The Common Council each and every member of this World <br />Championship Team, their Manager Derek Hicks, their coaches, their parents, all of their friends <br />and family members, and all of their many sponsors who supported these academic-softball <br />players in so many ways both on and off the playing fields, so that they could pursue their dream <br />and bring home a much deserved World Championship to South Bend!!! <br /> <br />Section III. Greg Brown, 1238 Diamond, South Bend, Indiana, congratulated their team on their season. <br /> <br />Additionally, Councilmembers, Scott, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Dr. David Varner, Oliver Davis, Gavin <br />Ferlic and Dieter offered comments and congratulated the team on their World Championship. <br /> <br />Councilmember Henry Davis made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. <br />Councilmember Dr. David Varner seconded the motion which carried. <br /> <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENT: REPRESENTING THE CITY ADMINISTRATION WILL BE <br />KATHRYN ROOS CHIEF OF STAFF <br /> <br /> <br />REPORTS OF CITY OFFICES <br /> <br />Mayor Pete Buttigieg thanked the Council for this opportunity to come before the Council and <br />give an update on the administration at a formal setting and was glad to hear from Council <br />2 <br /> <br /> <br />
