REMONSTRANCE
MR. TERRY FROST: I live at 1817 S. William Street. We live directly behind the building that would
having this crematory put in. I have here a petition with 40 people throughout the neighborhood that does
not want this to come into the neighborhood because of the small children and the hazards that could come
with this type of business.
MR. URBANSKI: So you're basically across the alley?
MR. FROST: Well not, I'm in front of that house that's across the alley.
MR. URBANSKI: Okay so you sit on the west side of the street?
MR. FROST: Yes and face east. So when I sit on my front porch I will see the building that they plan on
cremating people in.
MRS. HEATHER FROST: I live at 1817 S. William Street also. I guess my concerns are property values
for our homes and the neighborhood, and the chemicals and toxins that will be, that can be released when
they do cremations since one of them they will use is formaldehyde, hydrochloride and some other chemical
that can be harmful. Mercury is also going to be in the environment and with where we live there are so
many kids on that one block that's behind the building, that we face, it will be facing us. So our concerns are
the health of the children and the toxins being released into the environment.
MR. FROST: There is a foster home that is directly in front of our house which their back yard will be
butted up to that building so that just tells you how many children come and go from this area where we live
at and like I said we have 40 other people on Franklin Street and you talk about that it's secluded, it's not
secluded, there's one building on the corner of Franklin and Calvert. And then you go into a neighborhood.
People drive down past there every day. Do you want to drive past people being unloaded to be cremated?
mean that's just...
MRS. FROST: And the concern is that it's not secluded. And the concern is the children being exposed to
that kind of thing at a young age.
MR. FROST:. My thing is, would you want that in your back yard?
MR. URBANSKI: And the petitioner will answer your questions. I just happen to look at one of the studies
on it and it says, the average car emission ,08 as compared to diesel truck at .14, restaurants at .18, wood
stove at .46, and typical state standards is at .3 9, so this is about 20% lower than state standards.
MR. FROST: There's several studies that show everything. We can go on the computer and pull up one that
says those numbers. We can pull one up that shows that it each body releases 5 grams of mercury in the air
when it's burnt. So you figure 400 bodies a year, that's going to put our neighborhood over 1200 grams of
mercury into the air when you're only supposed to consume 25.
MR. URBANSKI: Okay, we'll let the petitioner answer afterwards. Are you with the petitioner?
SOMEONE FROM THE AUDIENCE SAID THAT THEY WERE WITH THE MANUFACTURER OF
THE CREMATION MACHINE
REBUTTAL:
