Department of Public Parks <br />Administration Building <br />St. Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46617 <br />PHONE: (219) 284 -9401 <br />June 20, 1977 <br />Mr. Roger Parent <br />County -City Building <br />227 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Mr. Parent: <br />The Department of Public Parks is requesting the Common Council to <br />approve the enclosed ordinance, in the amount of $20,000.00, to <br />light the two La Salle tennis courts and fence off Beck's Lake <br />along Washington Street. <br />The Park Department has had many requests from residents in the <br />La Salle Park area to light the tennis courts and for safety reasons <br />to fence the lake on the Washington Street side of the lake. Many <br />small children walk along Washington Street to and from the recre- <br />ation center park and is our concern that a child might fall into <br />the lake. <br />I feel that both of these projects will benefit the residents in <br />the La Salle Park area and urge the Council to pass the ordinance. <br />Very truly yours, <br />DEPA�NT OF PUB S <br />�apies R.
