(o ( (o` 7 i <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $20,000.00 FROM THE <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND, FOR <br />VARIOUS PUBLIC PARK PROJECTS TO BE ADMINISTERED <br />BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS DEPARTMENT <br />OF HUMAN RESOURCES /COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND THE <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC PARKS. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The task of providing a satisfying and stimulating living <br />environment has become a greater and greater challenge -- -there is a <br />growing recognition that if our cities, suburbs, and metropolitan <br />areas are to be liveable and pleasant it is essential that a system <br />of parks, recreational facilities /areas, open space, and even some <br />measure of wilderness are available to all segments of the city's <br />population. As part of this task the Division of Community <br />Development and the Department of Public Parks has established a <br />long -term objective of increasing the park, open space, and <br />recreational opportunities available to inner -city residents by <br />improving existing parks and recreational facilities. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $20,000.00 is hereby appropriated <br />for the program year starting July 7, 1977 from the City of South <br />Bend's Community Development Block Grant Fund (Program Year 1977). <br />The appropriation shall be used as approved by the United States <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development, under Title Twenty - <br />Four (24), of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred <br />and Seventy (570) for the Community Development Program Year 1977. <br />This appropriation shall be administered by the Division of <br />Community Development and the Department of Public Parks as set <br />forth below: <br />PROGRAM -CD -77 -506 <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM <br />PURPOSE <br />AMOUNT <br />Lighting of tennis courts $20,000.00 <br />and fencing Beck's Lake <br />along Washington Street <br />SECTION II.
