1218 <br />MARCH 25, ).957 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, a resolution was passed by the Common Council of the City of South Bend on the 25th day of July, 1955, and <br />signed by the Mayor on the 26th day of July, 1955, advancing the time one hour in harmony with Eastern Standard <br />Time for certain parts of the year, and <br />WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the State of Indiana has passed an Act permitting Daylight Saving Time for certain <br />times of the year, and <br />WHEREAS, said Daylight Saving Time is to begin on the last Sunday in April of each year, and <br />WHEREAS, said Act will not become law until some time in the summer of 1957, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Common Council of the City of South Bend to follow the dictates of the General <br />Assembly. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND AS FOLLOWS: <br />The People of the City of South Bend and its environs, schools, churches, <br />governmental units and departments of governments, courts, business, commerce <br />and industry are requested for the sake of uniformity from and after 2 :00 <br />o'clock A.M. on the last Sunday in October of each year to 2 :00 o'clock A.M. <br />.on the last Sunday in April of each year to commence each day and conduct all <br />T business in conformity with Central Standard Time, and from 2 :00 o'clock A.M. <br />on the last Sunday in April of each year to 2 :00 o'clock A.M. on the last <br />Sunday in October of each year to commence each day and conduct all business <br />one hour earlier than is customary. <br />/s/ JOSEPH T. KROLL <br />Member of the Common Council. <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion for adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Carr seconded the motion. The Resolu- <br />tion was adopted by a roll call vote of 8ayes, 0 nays, 1 absent,. (Councilman Erler). <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />A group of about 40 persons protested the rerouting of truck traffic to Olive Street during the paving of Sample <br />Street. The Spokesmen for the group were Clem Winkiewicz, Stanley Muszynski and John Sopczynski. They were given <br />an opportunity to express their feelings regarding this matter. Councilman Kroll made a motion that the Trasportat <br />and Traffic Committee of the Council meet with Mayor Voorde, Traffic Engineer Ernest Miller, City Engineer Ray <br />Andrysiak, Traffic Inspector Clem Hazinski, to discuss the above mentioned re- routing of trucks and to decide on <br />some route.that would be agreeable to all concerned. The Truckers Association will also be represented. <br />There being no .further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Carr <br />seconded the motion.
