REGULAR MEETING JULY 23,1956 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in Regu;ar Session in the Council <br />Chamber, Monday, July 23rd, 1956, at 8:11 P.M., C.D.S.T. (7:11 P.M., C.S.T.), with all members present. President <br />Korpal presided. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES: <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They, therefore, recommend that the same <br />be approved. <br />Meeting of July 9th, 1956. <br />STANLEY C. KORPAL <br />JULIUS B. CHRISTMAN, JR. COMMITTEE <br />GEORGE W. CARR <br />COMMUNICATION <br />A Communication from Judge Edward Olczak was read relative to the request made by the Council for a report of <br />transactions in Cafeteria Court. The communication stated figures covering receipts for the first six months of <br />1956, and-also stated that the present quarters of the Cafeteria Court are inadequate and a request made for <br />larger off ices: <br />Motion was made by Councilman Muszynski that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Motion seconded by <br />Councilman Kroll. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />A Communication from Mayor Edward F. Voorde relative to the establishment of an Urban Redevelopment Commission and <br />request for action by said commission in eleiminating the slum areas in South Bend, and providing adequate, clean <br />housing. <br />Motion was made by Councilman Kroll, seconded by Councilman Muszynski, that the Communication be accepted and <br />placed on file, Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />Petition of the First Bank and Trust Company to rezone Lots 247 to 254, inclusive, in the revised plat of Broadmoor <br />3rd- section from '4B" Residence use district and "B" height and area district to "C" Commercial Use district and <br />"D'" Height and area district. <br />Councilman Erler made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Carr seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />4 <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred An Ordinance authorizing the Inspector of Sub - standard Buildings <br />and Dwellings to demolish an unsafe building and appropriating $125.00 for same, respectfully report that they have <br />examined the matter and that in their opinion it should be reported favorable. <br />/s/ George W.
