REPORT OF ORDINANCE COMMITTEE
<br />RE COMMENDED REPORT BY THE ORDINANCE COMMITTEE FOR THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />In regard to the:.proposed ordinance amending the Building Code and establishing new fees for
<br />building permits, the Ordinance Committee recommends the following amendments to the proposed
<br />ordinance before consideration for adoption.
<br />1. That paragraph 7 of Section 37a be stricken from the proposed ordinance.
<br />2. That paragraph 8 be amended so that said paragraph shall read: "For altera-
<br />tions and repairs not otherwise provided for, for roofing repairs, re- roofing,
<br />for tanks, towers, platforms, stacks and other miscellaneous buildings and
<br />structures not included in the preceding schedule and for which volumes cannot
<br />be computed, the fee shall be two dollars ($2.00) for the first one thousand
<br />($1,000) dollars of cost or fraction thereof, one dollar and fifty cents
<br />($1.50) for each one thousand dollars ($1,000) of cost or fraction thereof
<br />above one thousand dollars ($1,000) up to and including ten thousand dollars
<br />($10,000), one dollar ($1.00) for each one thousand dollars ($1,000) of cost
<br />or fraction thereof above ten thousand ($10,000) dollars up to and including
<br />one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), and fifty cents (0.50) for each one
<br />thousand dollars ($1,000) of cost or fraction thereof above one hundred
<br />thousand dollars ($100,000).
<br />3.. That paragraph 13 of Section 37a be amended so that
<br />for signboards shall be at the rate of one dollar
<br />feet (250 sq. ft.) of area or fraction thereof.
<br />This committee having made a study of the proposed ordinance
<br />as-contained in this report, the ordinance is acceptable and
<br />to all concerned.

<br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
<br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend:
<br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred "An Ordinance:Amending Ordinance No. 3702 commonly known
<br />as "The Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana"' Lots 7, 8, and the east 33 feet of lot 6 in
<br />Herrick and Gran Addition as per petition of Charles H. Gerhardt, et al., respectfully report that they have
<br />examined the matter , and that, in their opinion, the matter should be continued until April 23rd, 1956, at
<br />which time public hearing will be had on same.
<br />Motion by Councilman Kroll and Seconded by 'Councilman Carr, that the report be accepted and placed on file.

<br />AN ORDINANCE. AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2243 COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE BUILDING
<br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND MORE PARTICULARLY REPEALING
<br />SECTION 37:a AND ANY AMENDMENTS THERETO, KNOWN AS THE SECTION ESTABLISHING
<br />FEES FOR BUILDING PERMITS, AND ENACTING IN LIEU THEREOF A NEW SECTION 37a
<br />ON THE SAME SUBJECT, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Muszynski made a motion
<br />that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on:. April 23rd, 1956. Seconded by Councilman Kroll. Motion
<br />carried.

<br />J -726 OTHER EQUIPMENT $1602.00, ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH
<br />BEND, INDIANA, FOR 1956, AND DECLARING AN EXTRA - ORDINARY EMERGENCY.
<br />The Ordinance wassgiven first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Kroll made a motion that
<br />the Ordinance be set for public hearing on April 23rd, 1956. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion
<br />carried.

<br />March 23, 1956
<br />A survey of conditions relative to vehicular delay caused by train operations was made on March 7th and
<br />March 8, 1956 at the intersection of Sample and Olive Streets in South Bend, Indiana.
<br />The survey was conducted for a 29 hour consecutive period between the hours of 11 A.M., and 12 midnight
<br />on March 7th and between the hours of 12 midnight and 4 P.M., on March 8th.
