REGULAR MEETING
<br />NOVEMBER 14TH, 1955
<br />The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council Chamber on the 14th day of November,
<br />1955, at the hour of 8:08 P.M., in regular session in accordance with the rules of the Council.
<br />The meeting was called to order by President, Walter C. Erler, Sr., who presided.
<br />Present: Councilmen Walter C. Erler Sr., Stanley Korpal,
<br />Michael Pinter, Clem Niezgodski, Walter Glass,
<br />William Hahn and Chester Muszynski.
<br />Absent: Cloyd Bestle.
<br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES
<br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend:
<br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have
<br />inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend
<br />that the same be approved.

<br />Councilman Glass moved that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion.

<br />COMMUNICATION
<br />R E S O L U T I O N
<br />WHEREAS: -The welfare of the people of this community is the chief interest of all of us; and
<br />WHEREAS: All people of our community would directly benefit if the agencies and offices of both the county and
<br />city governments were in one accessible spot that has sufficient parking space available; and
<br />WHEREAS: It is not our intention to specifically endorse any particular site or building plan for a city - county
<br />civic center; and
<br />WHEREAS: We feel that the benefit of the people is the only matter to be considered, at this time, and we are
<br />not interested in seeing this matter become a political football for any party or any group; and
<br />WHEREAS: It is high time that St: Joseph County forgets the horse and buggy days and to build as it should;
<br />THEREFORE, BE IT
<br />RESOLVED: That International Hod Carriers, Building and Common Laborers Union of America, Local #645 of South Bend,
<br />Indiana definitely goes on record as supporting the sggggestion for a Civic Center for ouu community
<br />r: as the first step of ,progress which should also include other projects of interest to this community;
<br />AND BE IT FINALLY
<br />RESOLVED: That copies of this resolution be sent to the Board of County Commissioners, the Mayor of South Bend,
<br />the Mayor of Mishawaka, to the Press, and to all Labor Unions in St. Joseph County.

<br />PETITION
<br />Petition of J. Howard Kelsey and Nellie E. Kelsey for change in zoning from "A!' Residential to "C" Commercial
<br />Lots numbered 1, 2 and 3, Logan Heights Proposed Addition, same being the Southwest corner of E. Jefferson and
<br />Logan St, having a frontage of 134 ft. on Jefferson by 150 ft. on Logan St.
<br />Councilman Hahn moved that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Niezgodski seconded
<br />the motion. Motion carried.
