REGULAR MEETING <br />ORDINANCE <br />SEPTEMBER 27TH9 1954 <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING FROM SANITATION <br />DEPARTMENT SERVICES PERSONAL XX -12 02462.00 TO BUILDING <br />DEPARTMENT MB -11 SALARY OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER $1839.00 <br />AND TO SALARY OF FIRST ASSISTANT BUILDING COMMISSIONER <br />1623.00; FROM SANITATION DEPARTMENT XX -12 SERVICES PERSONAL <br />$29000.00 TO XX 38 GENERAL SUPPLIES 129000.00; ALL OF THE <br />BUDGET FOR 1954 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass moved that the <br />ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on October 11th. Councilman Korpal <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4 OF CHAPTER 26 <br />OF ORs1DINANCE 3709 TO PROVIDE FOR THE RATES OF <br />FARE FOR TAXICABS. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in fall. Councilman Korpal moved that the <br />ordinance be set for public hearing on October 11th. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried* <br />Councilman. Niezgodski moved that the City Attorney make a study of the ordinance with reference to a light on the <br />meter in order for passengers to see it and report back to the next meeting on October 11th• (Councilman Hahn <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORIE NANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING POSSESSION, DISPLAY OR USE OF <br />ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES IN CERTAIN PUBLIC PLACES AND PROVIIDING <br />PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. :Councilman Muszynski moved for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion lost by a roll call vote of 6 ayes (Councilmen <br />Elder, Pinter, Bestle, Glass, Hahn and Muszynski) - 1'�Not Voting (Councilman Korpal) - 1 nay (Councilman Niezgodski). <br />Councilman Glass moved that the ordinance be set for public hearing on October 11th. Councilman Bestle seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Korpal moved that the Traffic and Transportation Committee make a study for widening Western Avenue <br />from Maple to "Jacob Streets and' take the matter up with the Board of Works. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />Councilman Korpal moved that a meeting be called next Monday night, October 4th, for the purpose of inviting heads <br />f v <br />of various student groups and officers oarious youth clubs to attend this meeting on the question of "curfew". <br />Councilman Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Hahn made a motion to ._adjourn, which motion was <br />seconded by Councilman Muszynski.
