REGULAR MEETING <br />COMMITTEE OF THE NHOLE MEETING <br />AUGUST 9th, 1954 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, IncE ana met in theCommittee of the Whole <br />Meeting in the Council Chamber on Monday, August 9th, 1954 at 8:10 P.R. with all the members present. Councilman <br />Hahn presided. <br />ORDINANCE NUMBER 3992 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS <br />($1,000,000.00) TO BE APPLIED ON THE COST OF <br />CONSTRUCTION, REDONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT OF <br />STREETS, AND EXPENSES INCURRED IN CONNECTION <br />THEREWITH. <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that Section 1 on page two after the word 'streets" in Line 6 be amended to add: <br />"The program to include -these minimums: <br />1. The resurfacing and improvement of Olive Street from Lincolnway West to <br />Sample Street. <br />2. The aresyrfacmng of Miami Street from Ridgedale to Ireland Road. <br />3. The resurfacing of Jefferson Street from 26th to Logan Street. <br />4. The resurfacing of portions of Portage Avenue. <br />5. The resurfacing of portions of Mishawaka Avenue. <br />6. The resurfacing and improvement of Eddy Street. - <br />7. The resurfacing of Sample Street from Grant Street to Olive Street. <br />8. The engineering estimates on the widening and resurfacing of La Porte Avenue. <br />C-ounoilman Mus*iiaki seconded the motion. Motion Amending'-0rdinance was carried. <br />Councilman. Niezgodski moved that the Ordinance as Amended be approved and that the -AmendedYOrdinance go to the <br />Council -as favorable. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business, Councilman Korpal made a motion to adjourn, which motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Bestle. President Erler presided. <br />REPORT OF C0119MITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on' the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have <br />inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. HAHN ) <br />1954. <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the report be approved and placed on file. Councilman Glass seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />A communication in form of a petition was received from Bertha Krueger, et al., asking for removal of junkyard <br />at southeast corner of Sample and Fellow Streets. <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the communication be referred to the Board of Public Works. Councilman Glass <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />Petition to rezone the following described real estate situate in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, <br />State of Indiana, to-wit: <br />Beginning at the Northeast corner of the South Half of the Southwest <br />Quarter of Section 35, Township 38 North, Range 2 East in St. Joseph <br />County, Indiana; thence South 492 feet; thence West 176 feet; thence South 830 feet <br />to the South line of said section; thence East to the St. Joseph River; <br />thence downstream along the edge of the river to a point due East of the <br />point of beginning; thence West to the place of beginning. <br />from "A" Residential and "A" Height and Area District excepting South 322 feet of said real estate which was zoned <br />"I;" Light Industrial Diistrictq all to "D" Light Industrial and "F" height and Area District. <br />(signed) LOCK JOINT TUBE COMPANY <br />by Joseph J.
