9`v(; <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 24TH, 1954 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in regular session in the Council Chamber, <br />Monday, May 24th, 1954, at 8:17 P.M., with all members present. President Erler presided. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have inspected <br />the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend that the same <br />be approved. <br />WALTER C. ERLER SR. ) <br />W. A. HAHN ) Committee <br />Meeting of May 10th, 1954. STANLEY C. KORPAL ) <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Pinter seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />Communication from-Mr. Keith A.Kjopfenstein, General Chairman of Housing Committee of South Bend, relative to <br />Slum Clearance program. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Bestle seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried* <br />COMMUNICATION <br />Communication from Northern Indiana Transit Co. Inc. relative to curtailment of bus schedules in South Bend and <br />Mishawaka. <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the communication be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Niezgodski <br />seconded the motion. Motion parried. <br />PETITION <br />11 <br />Petition for change of zoning for Lots Numbered 1, 2 and 3, Recorded Plat of Riverdale. <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Hahn seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT FROM BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />To Evelyn Hennessy, City Clerk <br />CILty of South - Be3id <br />Following is an excerpt from the minutes of the regular nesting of the Board of Public Works, this date - <br />"A spokesman for the Truckers Association also called attention to the <br />relief needed, from the standpoint of routing, and in this connection <br />the Board, thereupon, declared Chapin Street open for truck transportation <br />from-Western Avenue to Prairie Avenue. The Board stressed, however, that <br />under rho circumstances is Chapin Street available to such transportation <br />north of Western Avenue." <br />Attached hereto is a revised drawing which indicates the nevl i.' established <br />access route." <br />WARD H. CROTHERS <br />Clerk of the Board <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Farris Ackil and John Borkowski to rezone Lots 2, 3, and 4 in Lincoln Manor Second Addition from <br />B Residence and B Height and Area District to C- Commercial and D Height and Aregbistrict was legally advertised <br />under date of April 26, 19549 and given public hearing under date of May 6, 1954. Subject property is located <br />on the southwest corner of Ardmore Trail and Goodland Avenue. <br />It is recommended that Lots 1, 2, and 3 of the above Addition be rezoned. -This excludes Lot No. 4 as petitioned <br />for, for the reason that there exists a structure on said lot now in residential use and requested rezoning would <br />make said struct non - conforming. <br />Very t ru ly yours, <br />CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Robert L.
