REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 13TH, 1953 <br />REPORT OF CITY CONTROLLER OF THE CITY OF SOUTH,BEND, INDIANA, FOR.THE MONTH OF JUNE,.1953• <br />Balance on hand 1609.987.13 <br />Receipts during month . 1,442 .9646.55 <br />Disbursements during month . 5799479.69 <br />Balance • . 2,4732153.99 <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the report be aeoepted. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE N0. 3932 <br />ANNEXING LANDS TO AND DECLARING SAME TO BE <br />A PART OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,. <br />(74 acre tract of land west of Hickory <br />Rd* and south of Edison Rd.) <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. 'Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br />for suspension of rules* Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - <br />0 nays - 1 absent (Councilman Hahn). <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Councilman <br />Hahn). <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE TSFERRING FUNDS FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT, <br />P -119 SALARIES, $5,000.00 TO P -334, OTHER GARAGE AND <br />MOTOR SUPPLIES; AND FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT, P -111, <br />SALARIES, $19000.00 TO P -261, MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion <br />that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on July 27th, 1953 at 8:00 P.M• <br />Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried* <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />A number of officials from the New York Central Railroad, headed by Mr. W. H. Farrell of Elkhart, Chief Road <br />Foreman of Engineers, appeared before the Council relative to complaints of smoke and cinder in the vicinity <br />of the 1600 block of West Dunham Street. Councilman Korpal made a.motion that Mr. Farrell obtain g report <br />from Chicago relative to moving their servicing facilities near the Olive Street crossing. Councilman <br />Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Board of Public Works notify the Chicago South Shore and South <br />Bend Railway to repair their right -of -way East from LaPorte Avenue. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. <br />Moth on carried.- w. <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the $oard of Public Works notify Mr. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, to <br />investigate and correct the situation of smoke, dust and fumes from the mi.xang_,plant and the noise fromtrucks <br />hauling dirt and report back to the Council at its next meeting on July 27th. Councilman Muszynski seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Glass made a motion that the City Attorney prepare an ordinance forbidding the practiQe of sweeping <br />debris into the street. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. - <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the Board of Public Works investigate the noise created at night by trucks <br />from the Brodbeok Trucking Co. on West Indiana- gvenue between Walnut and Olive Streets. Councilman Niezgodski <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried* <br />There being no further business before the Council, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to adjourn, which <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Glass.
