REGUTAR MEETING MARCH 23RD, 1953 <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 7 OF CHAPTER 4 <br />OF GENERAL ORDINANCE NO. 3709 KNOWN AS THE 1949 <br />MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by, title and second reading in full. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br />that the ordinance be set for public hearing on April 13th. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Councilman Bestle). <br />Councilman Korpal made an amendment to the motion that the ordinance be referred to a special committee for <br />further study and report to the Council. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />President Erler appointed Councilmen Korpal, Muszynski and Erler to serve on the special committee. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF ORDINANCES N0. 3571 <br />AND NO. 3537 (AS AMENDED) BEING ORDINANCES PERTAINING TO HEATING <br />SYSTEMS AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS, REGULATION, REPAIR AND <br />INSTALLATION THEREOF AND CONCERNING LICENSING AND CLASSIFICATION <br />OF CONTRACTORS AND INSPECTION OF SAME. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br />that the. ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on April 13th. Councilman <br />Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING MONIES FROM 5 -13, EXTRA AND <br />OVERTIME, TO 5 -11, SALARY OF ASSISTANT FOREMEN, $622.40, <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN HOURLY RATE: FROM P -11, POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT SALARY TO P -261, MECHANICAL ASSISTANCE, $396.00, <br />ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR THE YEAR 1953 OF THE CIVIL CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion <br />that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the 'Whole for public hearing on April 13th. Councilman <br />Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 36a OF CHAPTER 29 OF <br />GENERAL ORDINANCE NO. 3709 KNOWN AS THE 1949 MUNICIPAL <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Korpal made a motion that <br />the ordinanc'G be referred to a special committee for further study and report to the Council. Councilman <br />Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />President Erler appointed Councilmen Korpal, Hahn and Pinter to serve on the special committee. <br />RESOLDT ION <br />WHEREAS, The South Bend Central High School Basketball Team has attained <br />state -wide recognition as the winner in The State Tournament, ai.d <br />WHEREAS, The City of South Bend is honored by the favorable publicity <br />generated by The Team's accomplishments, and <br />WHEREAS, The success of any collective effort, in the field of sports as <br />well as any human endeavor, depends upon unselfish team work, which <br />is the very essence of the American Way, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />That the Common Council of The Civil City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />for itself and on behalf of The City Administration and for the <br />entire citizenry of said City, do hereby congratulate and commend <br />The South Bend Central High School Basketball Team, Coaches, School <br />Officials and Advisers, upon their attainment of The State Championship <br />in the highest and best tradition of American sportsmanship. <br />(Signed) W. HAHN <br />Member of the common Council <br />The Resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (Councilman Bestle). <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />Mr. Arthur Goulet, Attorney for property owners on So. Franklin Ste between Garst and Broadway, appeared before <br />the Counc, l relative to plant workers parking in front of their homes. <br />Councilman Muszynski. made a motion that the Board of Public Works notify the Traffic Engineer and Police Depart- <br />ment to enforce the two -hour parking limit on So. Franklin Ste Councilman Korpal made an amendment to the motioi <br />that the Traffic Engineer investigate why the signs have been removed on Liricbn.Ave* from Johnson St. West and <br />report back to the Council on April 13th. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
