REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 26TH, 1951 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the <br />Council Chamber, Monday, February 26th, 1951, at 8:17 P.M., with all members present. President Niezgodski <br />presided. <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes, would respectfully report that they have <br />inspected the minutes of the previous meeting of the Council and found them correct. They therefore recommend <br />that the same be approved.' <br />Meeting of: February 13th, 1951. <br />(Signed) Clem Niezgodski <br />it Chester Muszynski <br />it Stanley C. Korpal <br />it A. Kemper <br />Councilman Tellson :Wade a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />TO THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND: <br />WHEREAS, there are - seventeen salaried employees working for the Park Department of the City of South Bend, whose <br />yearly salaries for the past three years have been in the amount set opposite each position on the schedule of <br />pay attached hereto, and <br />WHEREAS, requests have been made of the Board of Park Commissioners by said employees for an increase in their <br />yearly rate of pay for reasons too obvious to enumerate, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Park Commissioners to cooperate with its salaried employees to the <br />end that each employee shall receive a wage commensurate with the ability, skill and industry required of him <br />to adequately, properly and efficiently perform the duties of his particular job, and <br />WHEREAS, certain duties heretofor performed by the caretaker at the Erskine Club House have been changed, thereby <br />reducing his salary, and the duties of the Engineer at the Natatorium have been changed and payment for same <br />changed to an hourly basis; thereby reducing the salaries in classification No. 11 by a greater amount than funds <br />required for�,the salary increases. <br />NON THEREFORE, the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of South Bend respectfully request your Honorable <br />Council to take such action, if any,.as the law may permit and as in your judgment you may feel proper for an <br />increase in the yearly pay of the salaried employees of the Park Department of the City of South Bend, as set <br />forth in the attached schedule. <br />(Signed) GEORGE KOCH, President <br />Board of Park Commissioners <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the increase be granted to the employees of the Park Department. <br />Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Muszynski withdrew his motion. Councilman Tellson withdrew his second. <br />Councilman Erler made a motion that the communication and proposed salary changes of the Park Department be <br />referred to the City Attorney for study and to report back to the next meeting of the Council on March 12th. <br />Councilman Tellson seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
