<br />August 30th, 1948, at 8:05 P.M. with all members present. President
<br />To the Presidentjand members of the Common Council of the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana:

<br />CALL FOR SPECIAL MEETING
<br />You are hereby notified that under and by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of South
<br />Bend, in the State of Indiana, a Special Meeting of the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet
<br />in the Council Chamber,.in the City Hall at the hour of 8 :00 o'clock P.M., on Monday, August 30, 1948, the
<br />same being the last Monday in August, 1948, as provided for by law, for the purpose of considering and acting
<br />upon the following ordinances, to -wit:
<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATINs MONEYS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING TT-2 EXPENSES
<br />OF ILL BUDGET - OPERATED DEPARTMENTS OF THE CIVIL CITY,OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
<br />FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 1949, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1949,
<br />INCLUDING DEPARTMENTS, FUNDS AND COMMISSIONS FOR WHICH MONEY IS APPROPRIATED,
<br />IN WHOLE OR IN PART, FROM FUNDS OTHER THAN THE GENERAL FUNDS OF SAID CITY,
<br />TO -WIT: STREET, TRAFFIC AND PARK DEPARTMENTS, FIREMEN'S PENSION AND POLICE -
<br />MEN'S PENSION FUNDS, AND THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION: PROVIDING THAT SUCH
<br />APPROPRIATIONS SHALL INCLUDE ALL OUTSTANDING CLAIMS AND OBLIGATIONS: FIXING
<br />THE SALARIES OF ALL CITY OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES: REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES
<br />AND PARTS OF ORDINAL ?CES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH: PROVIDING A TIME WHEN THE SAME
<br />SHALL TAKE EFFECT."

<br />"AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1949 FOR THE MUNICIPAL CIVIL
<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ".
<br />The Chief of Police or any member of the Police Force is hereby directed to forthwith serve a copy of this
<br />notice on each and every member of the Common Council anc;,fQake due return of such service of said Special
<br />Meeting.

<br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE
<br />To the 'Common Council of the City of South Bends August 30, 1948
<br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An Ordinance appropriating moneys for the purpose of defraying
<br />the expenses of all budget - operated departments of the Civil City of South Bend, Indiana, for the fiscal year
<br />beginning January 1, 1949, and ending December 31, 1949, including departments, funds and commissions for which
<br />money is appropriated, in whole or in part, from funds other than the General Funds of said City, to,wit: Street,
<br />Traffic and Part Departments, Firemen's Pension and Policemen's Pension Funds, and the City Plan Commission:
<br />Providing that such appropriations shall include all outstanding claims and obligations: Fixing the salaries
<br />of all City Officials and Employees, repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith:
<br />Providing a time when the same shall take effect ".
<br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion thiVordinance shall be reported
<br />to the Council as favorable.
