Be it remembered-that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, July 26th, 1948, at 8:20 P.M., with all members present. President Niezgodski presided, The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. PETITION To the Common Council of the City of South Bend and City Clerk July 80 1948 Gentlemen: We the undersigned property owners of Lots 94 and 95, Hartman do Miller Addition, South Bend Ave., petition your honorable body to rezone from Class B, Res. Councilman Tellson made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Erler seconded the,motion. Motion carried. PETITION To the Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: July 20, 1948 We the undersigned property owners of Lots 1 and 2 Lederer and Langley's Subdivision of Out Lot 1 of Cottrell's Addition, petition your honorable body to rezone these lots from "B" Residential "A" Height to "C" and "D" for the purpose of constructing a business building in accordance with the laws. OLIVER J. SCOTT, SR. MARIE E* SCOTT Know ye that the above Oliver J. Scott, Sr. and Marie E. Scott appeared before me a Notary Public and did sign the above petition in my presence. My commission expires 3 -1 -52. Jesse L. Dickinson, Notary Public Councilman Korpal. made a motion that the petition be referred to the City Plan Commission., Councilman Glass seponded the motion. Mot ion •carried. PETITION To the Honorable Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: We the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to eliminate the smoke nuisance and traffic hazard caused by the South Bend Smelting & Refining Co., 1610 Circle Ave. (44 Signers) Councilman Korpal made a motion that the petition be referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety. Councilman Kemper seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE VE OLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: July 26, 1948 Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance appropriating from the General Street an.d Traffic Fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana, of the following amount to the following indicated account of the 1948 budget: Street Department, S -53, Refunds, Awards and Indemnities, $2,000.00, and declaring an extraordinary emergency. Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that-in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to the Council as favorable. STANLEY Co KORPAL, Chairman Councilman Tellson made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Glass seconded the motion. Motion carried. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WUOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: July 26, 1948 Your Committee of the Thole to whom was referred "An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 2331, commonly known as the Zoning Ordinance of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to the Council favorably as amended. STANLEY C.
