REGULAR MSETIVG <br />Be it remembered'- -that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular session in the <br />Council Chambers, City Hall, March 8th, 1948, at 7 :30 P.M., with all members present except Councilman Richardson. <br />President Niezgodski presided at the meeting. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was waived. <br />COMMUNICATION <br />A letter was received from members of Post 303 regarding insects destroying maple trees in certain sections of <br />the vicinity. Councilman Erler made a motion that Mr. Lisle McNabb, Superintendent of the Park Department, and <br />two members of the Board, appear at the next meeting of the Council. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. Councilman Glass seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council, <br />City Hall, <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen:: <br />March 8, 1948 <br />Attached hereto are copies of reports submitted by Mr. William Qualls, Superintendent of the Electrical Department, <br />relative to petitions for street lights in which he reoommends the installation of street lights at the following <br />locations <br />Academy Place and "Inglewood Place,-Academy Place and Riverside Drive; On .academy Place between Inglewood and River- <br />side, Byler Place and Place, Blyler Place and Riverside Drive, On Byler Place between Culver and Riverside, <br />Ga-*&' Place and Culver Placa, Harris and Danham Streets, Bryan and Sherman Streets, Bryan and Inglewood Place, Beale <br />Street and Inglewood Place, Beale Street and Sherman Street, Roosevelt Street and Inglewood Place, Rose Street and <br />Inglewood Place,'Roosevelt Street and Sherman, Beverly and Berkley Streets, Inglewood and Lathrop Streets,- Crumstown <br />and Iowa Streets_, Farneman and St. Joseph Streets, Olive and Longley Streets, Ewing and St. Joseph Streets, On <br />Liberty Street between Jefferson and Western, Howard and St. Peter Streets, On Wilber Street between Elwood and <br />Humboldt, Meade and Marquette Streets, <br />Mr. Quails also informed the Board that street-lights ordered in at Indiana-and Pulaski Streets, Pulaski and <br />Calvert Streets, Washington and Esther Streets, Suunnyside and Sorin Streets,-Portage and King Streets, the alley <br />intersection between Colfax and Washington and St. Peter and Notre Dame Ave., seven lights between Sheridan Street <br />and Gladstone Street and Ford Street and Sample Street, Elwood and Meade Streets and Fremont and Bulla Streets, <br />Johnson-and Elwood Streets, On Walnut at the alley intersection South of Fassnacht Street, Colfax and Spruce <br />Streets, between Michigan and Main at Dayton Street, St. Joseph and Dabail# Woodside and High Streets, On <br />Twyokenham Drive between Fairview and Eckman, In the alley at the rear of Hillerest Road, and changing 1000 <br />lumen lights at Sunnyside and Washington and Jacob and Washington Streets to 4000 lumen lights, had all been <br />installed and are now in service. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />C. Motion <br />ca rrt,ed <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council March 5, 1948 <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Arthur J. Eckman, et al, for change of zoning classification of Lets 60 61, 62 and 63 in Queensboro <br />Addition was considered by the City Plan Commission at its regular meeting March 4th. <br />The City Plan Commission recommends this change and that the zoning of these lots be made "C" Commercial and "E" <br />Height and Area Districts. <br />D.
