REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC IORKS & SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council, May 29, 1947. <br />City Hall,, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: <br />Upon Mr. iQualls recommendation, the Board of Public Works and Safety have directed that street lights be <br />installed on Ironwood Drive at the entrance to the Ball Park, at the rear of Almond Court and at the inter- <br />section of Calvert and Caroline Streets. He also recommended that the street lighis.in Twyckenham Addition <br />which were turned off during the war be turned on again and the Board approved. We are attaching sketches <br />which are self explanatory. <br />Mr. Qualls informed the Board that lights ordered in at Marquette and Eclipse, Calvert and Marine, Duey <br />Street, had all been installed and were now in service and that the street light at Western Avenue and <br />Kosciusko Street had been changed from a 1000 lumen light to a 4000 lumen light. <br />Councilman'Heideman made a motion that the report be <br />the motion. Motion carriedaby a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent <br />(McCarthy) <br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent (McCarthy) <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE TRANSFERRING MONEY FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM FOR <br />TEE USES AND PURPOSES OF THE FOLLOWING BUDGETARY ITEM, fe -WIT: <br />P -724, MOTOR EQUIPMENT, POLIBE DEPARTMENT, $5,000.00 AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The Ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Niesgodski made-a motion that the Ordinance be <br />referred to the Committee of the Whole for Public Hearing on June 23rd, 1947, at 7 :30 P.M. <br />Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
