Be it remembered that the Common-Council of-the City of South oend; Indiana, met in Regular <br />Session, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, March 25th, 1946, at 7 :35 P.M., with <br />all members present except Councilman, Hull, Bishop and Richardson. The reading of the Minutes <br />of the previous meeting was - waived. <br />Councilman John Mirocha presided at the request of the President of the Council, Stanley Korpal. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />A letter from Ivar kennings, dated March 15th, 1946, with regard to the petition of the Walnut <br />Grove Mutual Housing Corporation, to re'-classify the Walnut Grove area to a commercial rating <br />that would permit certain retail services, was read. Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the <br />letter be referred to the City Plan Commission. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />A letter from Douglas G. Reid,_ President, of the Southmore Mutual Housing Corporation, dated <br />March 21st, 1946, with reference to mutual ownership of the project was read. Councilman McCarthy <br />made a motion that the communication be referred to the City Attorney and that he be instructed-to <br />draw up the necessary letter or resolution and make a report at the next-meeting of the Council, and <br />further moved that a copy of this letter or resolution be sent to the City Housing Authority, who <br />was put in operation by this Council, and ask them for their comments at the next meeting of the <br />Council. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />PETITION: <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Ro the Honorable Board of Public Works and March 13, 1946 <br />Safety of the City of'South Bend, Indiana, and <br />to.the Common Council. <br />Gentlemen: <br />We the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to install a street light <br />at 30th and Hasting Streets. <br />(50 Signers) <br />Councilman Brannan, made a motion that this petition go to the Board of Public Works and Safety, <br />and that they act on this petition and get a report back at the next'regular. meeting of the Councilt. <br />and that the petition for a street light at 24th and Hasting Streets, be put in circulation and that <br />some action be taken and a report made to the Council at the next meeting of the Council. <br />Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION: <br />South Oend, Indiana. <br />March 25, 1946. <br />To the Common Council, City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Drewrys Limited U.S.A, Inc., for change of zoning classification of property adjacent <br />to their present plant was considered by the City Plan Commission at their meeting March 22nd, 1946. <br />This change is not recommended and the petition together with the written remonstrance of <br />neighboring property owners is returned herewith. <br />D. MOOMAW, Secy <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Brannan seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION: <br />March 25, 1946. <br />To the Common Council, City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Michael Machowiak, et. al. for change of zoning classification of Lot D, in Davis <br />Plat which is 715 LaPorte Avenue, was considered by the City Plan Commission at a Special <br />meeting March 22nd, 1946. <br />The City Plan Commission recommends that this change be made and that the change be made to <br />include the several small lots between Lot D and the junction of LaPorte Avenue with Wilber. <br />D. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE CITY PLAN COMMISSION: <br />March 25, 1946. <br />To.-the-.-Common Council, City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Clifford and Bernice Gould for change of zoning classification of portion of Lot #105, <br />Bercliff Estate from "A" Use and "A" Height and area district to "C" Use and "D" height and area <br />district was considered by the City Plan Commission at a Special Meeting March 22nd, 1946. <br />This change is recommended as petitioned for. <br />D.
