415 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 25th. 1946 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Fend; Indiana, met in Regular Session, <br />in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, February 25th, 1946, at 8:30 P.Y., with all members <br />present except. Councilmen McCarthy,-Hull and Brannan. The reading of the Minutes of the previous <br />meeting was waived. President Korpal presided. <br />COMMUNICATION: <br />A letter from J. Chester Allen, Atty, enclosing -a copy of a petition which has been presented to the <br />Northern Indiana Transit Company, requesting that the bus company furnish bus service to the residents <br />of the area east of Eddy Street, was read. The petition. had 355 signers. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the communication and copy of petition be referred to the <br />Transportation Committee. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REMONSTRANCE: <br />To the City Council of South Bend, Indiana. <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />Feb. 259 1946. <br />We, the undersigned, hereby remonstrate against the proposed changing of Olive Street in South Bend, <br />to a boulevard. <br />The facts on which we base our remonstrance are as follows: <br />1 The undersigned are all engaged in the business of retailing solid fuel. <br />2. The businesses of the undersigned are located on Olive Street or in the immediate vicinity. <br />3. In delivering solid fuel, Olive Street is the only conveniently located North and South route <br />for the trucks of the undersigned to use. <br />4. There is no other North and South Street so located as to provide,a feasible route for use by <br />trucks in their deliveries across the city. <br />5. Should the trucks of the undersigned-be—excluded from traversing Olive Street, it would cause each <br />of the undersigned great additional expense, and extensive loss of time in conducting their normal <br />deliveries of solid fuel. <br />(23 Signers) <br />Councilman Bishop made a motion that this petition be filed. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE SOLE <br />To the Common CounciI of Ehe..City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred "An ordinance changing South Olive Street from its <br />intersection with %stern Avenue to its intersection with West Sample Street, from a Street to a <br />Boulevard and giving the care and control thereof to the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana" <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance <br />be reported-favorably to the Council. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Miroeha seconded the <br />motion. (NORTHWEST.—CORNER OF PRAIRIE AVENUE AND MAGNOLIA STREET) <br />(LOT NO. 19) <br />The Ordinance was given first and second reading.` Councilman Mirocha made a motion that the <br />ordinance be set for public hearing on March 11th, 1946. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />
