415 REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 25th. 1946 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Fend; Indiana, met in Regular Session, in the Council Chambers, City Hall, on Monday, February 25th, 1946, at 8:30 P.Y., with all members present except. Councilmen McCarthy,-Hull and Brannan. The reading of the Minutes of the previous meeting was waived. President Korpal presided. COMMUNICATION: A letter from J. Chester Allen, Atty, enclosing -a copy of a petition which has been presented to the Northern Indiana Transit Company, requesting that the bus company furnish bus service to the residents of the area east of Eddy Street, was read. The petition. had 355 signers. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the communication and copy of petition be referred to the Transportation Committee. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. REMONSTRANCE: To the City Council of South Bend, Indiana. South Bend, Ind. Feb. 259 1946. We, the undersigned, hereby remonstrate against the proposed changing of Olive Street in South Bend, to a boulevard. The facts on which we base our remonstrance are as follows: 1 The undersigned are all engaged in the business of retailing solid fuel. 2. The businesses of the undersigned are located on Olive Street or in the immediate vicinity. 3. In delivering solid fuel, Olive Street is the only conveniently located North and South route for the trucks of the undersigned to use. 4. There is no other North and South Street so located as to provide,a feasible route for use by trucks in their deliveries across the city. 5. Should the trucks of the undersigned-be—excluded from traversing Olive Street, it would cause each of the undersigned great additional expense, and extensive loss of time in conducting their normal deliveries of solid fuel. (23 Signers) Councilman Bishop made a motion that this petition be filed. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE SOLE To the Common CounciI of Ehe..City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole, to whom was referred "An ordinance changing South Olive Street from its intersection with %stern Avenue to its intersection with West Sample Street, from a Street to a Boulevard and giving the care and control thereof to the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of South Bend, Indiana" Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance be reported-favorably to the Council. Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the report be accepted. Councilman Miroeha seconded the motion. Motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 3551 AN ORDINANCE CHANGING SOUTH OLIVE STREET FROM ITS INTERSECTION WITH WESTERN AVENUE TO ITS INTERSECTION YVITH 'NEST SAMPLE STREET, FROM A STREET TO A BOULEVARD AND GIVING THE CARE AND CONTROL. 7HEREOF.TO THE BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a.roll call vote of 4 ayes - 2 nays (Heideman and Bishop) 3 absent (McCarthy, Brannan and Hull) ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 2331 (AS AMENDED) OF THE MUNICIPAL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. (NORTHWEST.—CORNER OF PRAIRIE AVENUE AND MAGNOLIA STREET) (LOT NO. 19) The Ordinance was given first and second reading.` Councilman Mirocha made a motion that the ordinance be set for public hearing on March 11th, 1946. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.
