<br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South amend, Indiana, met in Special Session
<br />in the Council Chambers, City 'mall, on Friday, December 28th, 1945, at 7:35 P.M., with all members
<br />present. President P„irocha rresided.

<br />South Bend, Indiana.
<br />Gentlemen:
<br />You are hereby notified that under and virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the
<br />City of South Bend, Indiana, a special meeting of "the Common Council of said City is hereby called to meet
<br />at 7 :30 o'clock P.M., on the 28th day of December, A.D., 1945, in the Council Chambers, City Hell, South
<br />Bend, Indiana. It is the purpose of said meeting to consider (a) the approval of a garbage contract
<br />for the year 1946, (b) the execution of a certain lease between the City of South bend and Bendix
<br />Corporation and (c) a resolution relating to housing for veterans and others.
<br />The City Clerk is hereby directed to serve forthwith a copy of this notice on each and every
<br />member of the Common Council of said City and make return of such service at said special meeting.

<br />vHEREAS, there exists an extreme shortage of housing accomodations throughout the ration which will be
<br />intensified and aggravated as additional numbers of our veterans return to civilian life; and
<br />MIEREAS, the immensity" of the task . requires the joint cooperation and a. si_stance of all private and
<br />public agencies, local,, state and national.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COI4?I,4ON COUNCIL OF UF, CITY OF SOUTH BEIv�Ii, INDIZN', THAT;
<br />Section l.'To alleviate the housing shortage in the City of SouthBend that the Housing Authority of
<br />South Bend, be and now is appointed agents for the said Common Council to secure such temporary housing
<br />under provisions of Senate Joint Resolution No. 122 enacted the 79th Congress also sometimes referred to
<br />as the Mead Bill.
