290 <br />Whereas, such lots contain the remains of certain important citizens of the said city; And, <br />Whereas, a proper respect and gratitude for their services requires that the said lots be cared for, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana; That, <br />1. That the Sexton of the City Cemetery of the City of South Bend is hereby authorized and directed to arrange for <br />the care of the follovAng lots to -wit: <br />Lot 4, block 1, range 1 west <br />Lot 27, block 2; range 1 west <br />Lot 35, block 6; range 1 east <br />Lot C. block 10, range 1 east <br />2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect.from and after its passage by the Common Council and its <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />Councilman Hull made a motion for the adoption of the resolution. Councilman Brannan seconded the motion. Motion. <br />carried. (Burial lots of Schuyler Colfax, John Auten, Lathrop M. Taylor, Jas. and Mary McKinley, and others) <br />Councilman Niezgodski stated the need of a safety zone at the gates of th hBendi role in He made a motion that the <br />traffic engineer investigate the conditions and report to the Council COURAT �c arthy seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />City Attorney Levy requested that a Council committee be assigned to work with him on a plan to govern the use of <br />the sidewalks by the merchants. President Richardson appointed the Streets, Alleys and Bridges Committee to this <br />assignment. <br />Councilman.Bishop made a motion that the Council go on record as encouraging the movement of the Central High School <br />student body to curb destructive Halloween activities. Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Hull made a motion that the City Attorney be instructed to amend the present ordinance to allow grocers, <br />etc., to sell electric light bulbs without a license. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business, Councilman Pulaski made a motion to adjourn. Councilman Bishop seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried.
