285 Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in regular ses.sion in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Monday, September 22, 1941, at 7:45 P.M. with all members present. President Richardson pre- sided. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was omitted by unanimous consent. COMMUNICATION TO THE COMMON COUNCIL: September 9, 1941 Attached hereto is a copy of a letter which was sent to the attorney of the Grand Trunk Railway, concerning the matter of crossings at 30th and 32nd Streets. We feel this letter is self - explanatory. (attached letter Mr. Arthur L. May 811 J.M.S. Bldg. South Bend, Ind. Dear Sir: Respectfully submitted, JAMES P. CONBOY, Clerk September 9, 1941 The City is interested in opening 30th and 32nd Streets, and is therefore requesting that the Grand Trunk Railway give the City rights -of -way at these two points so that proper crossings can be installed. The residents .in this vicinity.are anxious that this be done at the earliest possible instance, and it is my under- standing that you have already taken the matter up in an informal way. Please advise as soon as possible concerning the attitude of the railway company towards this matter. Very truly yours, BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY James P. PETITION, South Bend, Ind., Sept. 18, 1941 TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY & CChFION COUNCIL of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Gentlemen: We the undersigned property owners, petition your honorable body to improve intersection of No. Side Blvd. & 26th street from - by installing street light on the southwest corner of intersection. Paul Raber - 1219 S. 26th and 15 other signers Councilman Brannan made a motion that the petition be referred to the Board of Works. Councilman Bishop seconded the motion. Motion carried.
