Be it remembered that the Common Council met in regular session in the Council Chambers, City Hall, South Bend, <br />Monday, June 9, 1941, at 9 :30 P.M. with all members present except Councilman Brannan. President Richardson pre- <br />sided. It was agreed to waive the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting. <br />The Clerk read a communication from Rev. Loran Irby, Pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, which communication, <br />on motion, was referred to the City Plan Commission. <br />A Communication from the Sliver Park Business & Professional Men's Association was read and on motion of Councilman <br />Pulaski, seconded by Councilman Jordan, was referred to the Board of Works. <br />A Communication from the National Milk Company regarding a dumping situation was read and referred to the Board of <br />Safety with instructions to correct and report to the Council at the next meeting. <br />PETITION: <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana 1. <br />Gentlemen: <br />We, the undersigned, being the owners of one hundred (100) per cent of the frontage involved, hereby petition your <br />body to change the zoning of the following tract of land in the City of South Bend, to -wit: <br />Beginning a t a point Eight Hundred and forty -eight and seven tenths feet (848.71) East and Five <br />Hundred and fourteen feet (514) South of the Northwest corner of the Northeast Quarter (1/4) of <br />Section Eighteen (18), Township Thirty -seven (37) North, Range Three (3) East; said point bedng <br />on the East line.of John Adams First Addition at the North line of Ruskin Street; thence South <br />Sixty feet (600; thence West Thirty feet (301); thence South Two hundred and ninety -seven feet <br />(2971) to the Southeast corner of John Adams First Addition; thence East Three hundred and thirty- <br />two and forty -five hundredths feet (332.451) to the West line of S.W. Mikesell's Addition; thence <br />North Three hundred and fifty -seven and two hundredths feet (357.021); thence-West Three Hundred <br />and three and sixty -seven hundredths feet,(303.671) to the place of beginning, <br />from Light Industrial to "B"' Residential and from "E" Height and Area to "A" Height and Area. <br />Respectfully yours, <br />ORIENTAL WROUGHT-IRON WORKS, INC. <br />By - J. Motion carried. <br />! petition having seventeen signers and requesting the improvement of the property at 936 - 33rd Street by Removal, <br />Remodeling or General Clean Up was referred to the Health Department on the motion of Councilman Bishop.and second <br />by Councilman Pulaski. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE MOLE <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />June 9, 1941 <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance amending "an Ordinance entitled "An ordinance to regu- <br />late and restrict the location of t rades,callings, industries, commercial enterprises, and the location of buildings <br />designed for specified uses; to regulate and limit the height of buildings hereafter erectedror altered; to regulate <br />and determine the area of yards and other open spaces about buildings, etc. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall go to the <br />Council favorably. <br />LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman <br />Councilman Hull made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Pulaski seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE V1HOLE June 9, 1941 <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend:: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance approving and authorizing the execution of a coopera- <br />tion agreement between the City of South Bend and the Housing Authority of the City of South Bend, Indiana *" <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be referred to <br />the Council favorably. <br />LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion to accept the report. Councilman McCarthy seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WROLE June 9, 1941 <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your Committee of the Whole to whom was referred "An ordinance providing for the regulation and control of fumigatio <br />with poisonous gas and the use of insecticide for elimination and control of insects_;vermin, rodents and other pests <br />providing licenses therefor and providing for a penalty for the violation of said ordinance. <br />Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion this ordinance shall be held in <br />Committee for further investigation. <br />LEO M. JORDAN, Chairman <br />Councilman Hull made a motion to accept the report. Councilman Heideman seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />A report from the special Dumping Committee was read and accepted on motion of Councilman Pulaski and second by <br />Councilman Niezgodski, <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION June 6, 1941 <br />To the Common Council - City of South Bend, Ind. <br />Gentlemen: <br />Paragraph 6 of the proposed cooperation agreement between the City of South Bend and the Housing Authority was con- <br />sidered by the City Plan Commission at their regular meeting June 5th. <br />
