247 <br />Attached to this letter was a statistical report of twenty -eight pages, a copy of which was given to each council- <br />man. <br />Councilman Brannon made a motion that the City Attorney be instructed to draw a Resolution authorizing the Mayor <br />to appoint a Housing Authority, said Resolution to meet with the requirements of the United States Housing Authori <br />and present the same at a special meeting of the Council to be held in the Council Chambers, Friday, February 14, <br />1941, at 7x00 P.M. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. Motion carried by a vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />Councilman McCarthy made a motion that the Council extend a vote of thanks to the members of the Citizens' Housing <br />Committee and the other persons mentioned in -the report of the said Committee for their cooperation and effort <br />expended. The motion was carried by a vote of 9 ayes - 0 nays. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2979 WITH REFERENCE TO RATE <br />OF FARE FOR TAXICABS. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Hull made . a motion that the <br />ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing on February 24. Councilman Bishop seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND RATIFYING TWO CONTRACTS MADE AND ENTERED <br />INTO ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, BY THE BOARD OF <br />PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF SAID CITY. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Pulaski made a motion that <br />the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the 'Whole for public hearing on February 24. Councilman McCarthy <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION <br />RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING FUNDS FROM THE CONTINGENCY FUND IN THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND GENERAL FUND, KNOWN AS ITEM B14A, TO THE FUND KNOWN AS <br />THE SPECIAL BARRETT LAW CLERK FUND, KNOWN AS GA3A, FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />HIRING ADDITIONAL CLERICAL HELP IN THE TREASURER'S OFFICE. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Resolution be adopted. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. <br />carried. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion that the Clerk notify the Traffic Engineer to contact Mr. Shipley of Bendix <br />Local +9 regarding the traffic situation and parking situation at Bendix factory and make a report of situation to <br />the Council at the next meeting. This motion was seconded by Councilman Jordan. Motion carried. <br />There being no further business, Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for adjournment, which motion was seconded by <br />Councilman Pulaski., Motion carried and meeting adjourned at 8 :55.P.M. <br />ATTEST: / <br />CLERK <br />. <br />
