218 <br />ORDINANCE <br />THIS ORDINANCE IS AMENDATORY OF ORDINANCE NO. 2331, ADOPTED BY THE <br />COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ON JUNE 25, 1923, <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE. <br />The ordinance was given third reading by title and passed by roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent. (see <br />minutes of Council meeting of 9/23/40) <br />ORDINANCE NO. 3343 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $1000.00 FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND FOR ELECTRIC CURRENT FOR THE BOARD OF WORKS <br />AND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $1500.00 FOR COAL AND HEAT FOR THE BOARD <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND ALSO APPROPRIATING THE <br />SUM OF $2500.00 FOR SPECIAL BARRETT LAW LIQUIDATION FUND. <br />The ordinance was given third reading by title and passed by roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2243 COMMONLY KNOWN AS BUILDING CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS AMENDED BY SUBSEQUENT ORDINANCES <br />The ordinance was given first and second reading. Councilman Pulaski made a motion to have the ordinance referred <br />to the Committee of the Whole on September 23. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried.: <br />ORDINANCE N0. '3344 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE CONTRACT ENTERED INTO ON THE 9th DAY OF <br />SEPTEMBER, 1940, BETWEEN THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND THE INDEPENDENT CONCRETE PIPE CORPORATION, <br />INCORPORATED. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Richardson made a motion for <br />the suspension of rules. Councilman Brannon seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 8 ayes - <br />0 nays - 1 absent. The ordinance was given third reading and passed by roll call vote of 8 ayes - 0 nays - 1 absent <br />RESOLUTION <br />RESOLUTION ALLOCATING THE SUM OF TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND ($25,000.00) <br />FROM THE AMOUNT APPROPRIATED FOR WPA AND PWA IN THE 1940 BUDGET UNDER <br />ACCOUNT NO. H -27, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO SPECIAL WPA ACCOUNT. <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />That the sum of Twenty -five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00) be and the same is hereby allocated from Account H -27, <br />Department of Publit Works in the 1940 Budget to Special WPA Account, and that this amount so allocated by the - <br />Common Council may be used during, the year 1940, for the purchase of materials,labor and other items chargeable to <br />the various City WPA projects subject to the Approval of the Board of Works. The amount so allocated shall be <br />deducted from the amount of One Hundred Seventy -Seven Thousand, One Hundred Ninety Dollars ($177,190.00), appropriat <br />in the 1940 Budget under Account H -27, department of Public Works. <br />Councilman Pulaski made a motion for the adoption of the Resolution. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried. <br />After a general discussion on the matter of dumping within the city limits, Councilman Richardson made a motion <br />that the Board of Health be advised to use their authority to stop such dumping within the city limits.
